Good News #260: When I Call for Jesus to Heal Me, He Always Says “I Am Willing!”

In the gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke is a beautiful story of the heart of our God — our Lord Jesus.

To put some context, the law prohibits lepers to be among people… they are treated as outcasts. In fact, during this time, the law of the land allows for the public to stone lepers if they dare venture into crowds.

There was no known cure for leprosy so a leper is really as good as dead… just one waiting for his body to rot away…

The leper in this gospel story is risking being stoned to meet The Man Jesus who he knows can heal him… except he does not know if Jesus is willing…

The leper said, “Lord, IF you are willing, you CAN make me clean.”

The leper knows Jesus CAN… The leper knows Jesus is capable of healing him… The leper has an understanding of the POWER Jesus has…

What the leper does not know of is the HEART of Jesus…

The leper is a picture of a lot of us… we know Jesus is God… we know He has the power to do things… we know He can do things…
But what we are not clear on is whether He is willing to use His power to do for us what we can never do for ourselves… to heal us… to save us… to love on us…

Jesus responded to the leper with “I am willing; be cleansed”…
The words of Jesus settled what the leper had been wondering on — the willingness of Jesus to use His power to heal him…

Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.

The gospel is this — Jesus who said to the leper He is willing is the same Jesus today who says to everyone who comes to Him that He is willing to heal.
Jesus can and Jesus is willing.
Whatta Jesus we have!

Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
