This is personal.
On April 29, 2026, our only son, Rafael “Tonzy” Rengel, died by suicide.
He was 24 years old.
We loved him deeply.
We hugged him. We talked with him. We spent time together. We prayed for him. Just days before we lost him, we were together as a family.
But there were struggles inside him that we did not fully know.
And then he was gone.
There are questions a parent carries after losing a child this way that may never have complete answers on this side of eternity.
I cannot go back and have one more conversation with my son.
I cannot ask one more question.
I cannot tell him one more time:
“You don’t have to carry this alone.”
