Good News #16: God’s Willingness to Help in Our Time of Need is Based on His Goodness Alone Not Our Own!

Then He put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately the leprosy left him.

Luke 5:13

The Father sending His Son to the world to save humanity and The Son coming to the world to do so was something that had been ordained from the foundation of the world [1 Peter 1:20]. It wasn’t that Adam and Eve prayed for a Saviour to come and rescue the generations that would come from them. They did not.

But the moment Adam fell, God immediately spoke His work of redemption saying to the serpent in Genesis 3:15:

“And I will put enmity between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her Seed.
He shall bruise your head,
And you shall bruise His heel.”

Thus God set into motion the work of redemption that found its completion as Jesus hung on the cross and said, “It is finished!” [John 19:30].

Now, you might ask “Why did God not save them immediately at that time?”. Well, if we backtrack, dominion over the earth had been given to Adam (a man). When Adam sinned and fell, he unwittingly gave up that dominion to the enemy.

For man’s dominion to be restored legally and righteously, a man must take it back from the enemy. So Jesus came to be Man in sinLESS flesh, the (second) last Adam [1 Corinthians 15:45] to defeat satan and restore man’s dominion over the earth.

This is the willingness of God to do for humanity what humanity cannot do on its own. God did not wait for humanity to get their act together before He devised a plan to save them. God knew we cannot. God willingly set into motion the work of redemption and completed it apart from man’s efforts.

This is the gospel — That God is so willing He gave noone less than His Son Jesus to complete the work of redemption that resulted to His own death on the cross, a death He never deserved… A death that cleanses all of those who come to Him and believe in what He did for them at the cross two thousand years ago.

Whatta God we have!
