Good News #13: Only Believe and You Shall Have, In the Name of Jesus!
The old covenant of the law was all about man doing and performing to earn blessings from God (healing being one of it) but Jesus came to FULFILL the law [Matthew 5:17] and in doing so, establish a new covenant that made the first obsolete [Hebrews 8:13].
In the new covenant, what’s required is belief…NOT doing, NOT performing to earn… BUT believing in what Jesus has done to receive the blessings.
Galatians 3:13-14 says…
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”),
that THE BLESSING of ABRAHAM might COME UPON the Gentiles IN Christ Jesus, that we might RECEIVE the PROMISE of the Spirit through faith.
When Jesus walked the earth, He never asked anyone if they had done the 613 commandments outlined in the Old covenant before He healed them.
Jesus simply asked them to believe and receive.
Two distinct groups stand out in the gospels who were not able to receive from Jesus — (1) the pharisees, scribes and religious leaders… AND (2) those who did not believe in Him.
The first were focused on their law-keeping and self-righteousness to receive from God. The second were in a state of unbelief. Both could not and did not receive.
The gospel (good news) is that Jesus paid for all blessings and promises of God with the shedding of His blood unto death. It is a finished work. The price had been paid… FULLY PAID.
But Jesus is a gentleman. He will never force His blessings upon anyone because that will violate man’s free will. He waits to be believed in and have them receive from Him.
This is the gospel. That the yoke is easy and the burden is light. Simply believe in Jesus and receive from Him.
Whatta God we have!!!
Whatta Jesus we have!!!
