Risen Life Day #13: Stay Until You Are Filled
“Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift My Father promised… you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” — Acts 1:4–5 (NIV)

THE JOURNEY
Naomi was ready to move.
After months of preparation, prayer, and planning, she felt confident that God was calling her into something new—a ministry initiative she had been dreaming about for years. She had the ideas, the structure, even a small group of people willing to help.
Everything seemed aligned.
But one thing felt… rushed.
Late one evening, while reviewing her plans, she felt a quiet interruption in her spirit:
Not yet.
It didn’t make sense.
She had momentum.
She had support.
She had opportunity.
Why wait?
Frustrated but willing, Naomi paused her plans. Instead of launching, she dedicated time to prayer, Scripture, and simply sitting in God’s presence.
Days turned into weeks.
At first, it felt unproductive.
But slowly, something began to shift—not around her, but within her.
Her clarity deepened.
Her motives refined.
Her confidence no longer came from preparation, but from presence.
When she finally stepped forward, it was different.
She wasn’t striving anymore.
She was moving from a place of being filled.
And what followed carried a depth, impact, and peace she had never experienced before.
Heart of the Matter
After the resurrection, Jesus gave His disciples a surprising instruction.
He told them to wait.
This is striking because the disciples had everything they thought they needed:
They had seen the risen Christ.
They had received their mission.
They had walked with Him for years.
But Jesus knew something they needed to understand:
Resurrection life is not meant to be lived in human strength.
Before they could go out and change the world, they needed to be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit.
So He told them:
“Do not leave… wait.”
In a culture that values speed, action, and productivity, waiting can feel like weakness.
But in the Kingdom of God, waiting is often preparation.
Here is the dynamic of the Risen Life:
You love God by resisting the urge to rush ahead in your own strength.
You choose to wait, seek, and be filled rather than striving to perform.
He loves you back by empowering you with His Spirit to accomplish what you could never do alone.
The same power that raised Christ from the dead is not just for belief—it is for living.
The disciples didn’t fail because they waited.
They changed history because they did.
The Risen Life is not just about being called.
It’s about being filled before being sent.
Faith in Action
Waiting is not inactivity—it is preparation.
The Challenge:
Identify one area of your life where you feel pressure to move quickly.
Ask yourself:
• Am I acting from pressure or from peace?
• Have I truly invited God into this decision?
• Am I moving ahead of God, or with Him?
Today, take a intentional pause.
Instead of pushing forward, spend time in:
• prayer
• worship
• quiet reflection
Simply say:
“Lord, I don’t want to move without You. Fill me before You send me.”
Let stillness become strength.
Prayer for the Day
Risen Lord, thank You for reminding me that I am not called to live this life in my own strength. Forgive me for the times I rush ahead without seeking Your presence. Teach me to value waiting, not as delay, but as preparation. Fill me with Your Spirit so that when I move, I do so with Your power and not my own effort. Help me to trust Your timing and to rest in the assurance that You are working even when I am still. In Your name, Amen.
