Risen Life Day #15: From Fearful to Fearless
“Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd…” — Acts 2:14 (NIV)

THE JOURNEY
Caleb hated confrontation.
At work, he avoided difficult conversations. When something needed to be addressed, he delayed it. When conflict arose, he stayed silent, hoping things would resolve on their own.
But silence came at a cost.
Tension built within his team. Misunderstandings multiplied. And deep down, Caleb knew that his fear was preventing him from leading well.
One day, after a particularly stressful week, he sat down and read Acts 2.
He read about Peter.
Peter—the one who once denied Jesus in front of a small group.
Peter—the one who backed down when questioned by a servant girl.
Yet now, in front of a massive crowd, Peter stood up and spoke boldly about Jesus.
Caleb paused.
This wasn’t the same Peter.
Or was it?
It was the same man.
But not the same power.
That realization changed everything.
Caleb understood that boldness wasn’t about personality—it was about transformation.
The next time a difficult conversation arose at work, Caleb didn’t run.
He prayed.
Then he spoke—calmly, clearly, and honestly.
It wasn’t perfect.
But it was different.
And for the first time, he realized:
Courage doesn’t come from within.
It comes from the One who lives within.
Heart of the Matter
Peter’s transformation is one of the clearest pictures of the Risen Life.
Before the resurrection—and even immediately after—Peter struggled with fear.
He denied Jesus.
He hid with the others.
He hesitated.
But after the resurrection—and after being filled with the Holy Spirit—everything changed.
Peter stood in front of a crowd of thousands and boldly proclaimed the truth about Jesus.
What caused the shift?
It wasn’t:
• better training
• more time
• improved circumstances
It was empowerment.
The resurrection power of Christ, working through the Holy Spirit, turned fear into boldness.
Here is the dynamic of the Risen Life:
You love God by choosing obedience over comfort.
Even when fear is present, you step forward and do what is right.
He loves you back by supplying boldness that goes beyond your natural personality.
The Risen Life transforms not just what you believe—but how you live.
Boldness is not the absence of fear.
It is the presence of greater power.
Peter didn’t become fearless because life got easier.
He became fearless because he realized:
Jesus is alive—and that changes everything.
Faith in Action
Boldness grows through action.
The Challenge:
Identify one situation where you have been holding back because of fear.
It could be:
• addressing an issue
• sharing your faith
• standing up for truth
• expressing something important
Write this declaration:
“I will not let fear have the final word.”
Then take one step today:
Speak.
Act.
Move forward.
Even if your voice shakes.
Prayer for the Day
Risen Lord, thank You that You transform ordinary people into bold witnesses of Your truth. I confess that fear often holds me back from doing what I know is right. But today, I choose obedience over comfort. Fill me with Your Spirit and give me the courage to stand firm, speak clearly, and act faithfully. Help me to remember that boldness does not come from my strength, but from Your power working in me. Thank You that because You are alive, I can live with confidence and courage. Amen.
