Risen Life Day #26: Grace Upon Grace
“With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all…” — Acts 4:33 (NIV)

THE JOURNEY
Lena was exhausted.
Not physically—but emotionally and spiritually.
She had been trying to “do the right thing” in every area of her life. Show up. Serve. Stay positive. Keep going.
But the more she tried, the more drained she felt.
It was as if she was carrying something she wasn’t meant to carry alone.
One evening, during a quiet moment, she admitted what she had been avoiding:
“I can’t keep this up.”
The next morning, she read Acts 4:33.
“God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all.”
That phrase stayed with her.
Grace… at work.
Not just around them.
Not just for them.
But in them.
Lena realized she had been trying to live the Risen Life through effort instead of grace.
She was striving—when she was meant to receive.
That day, she prayed differently.
Not for more strength to push through.
But for grace to carry her.
And something shifted.
The pressure lifted.
The striving eased.
The weight became lighter.
She was still doing the same things.
But she wasn’t doing them alone.
Heart of the Matter
Acts 4 describes a powerful combination:
• great power
• great unity
• great grace
These three elements worked together.
The apostles boldly testified about the resurrection.
The believers lived in unity.
And through it all, God’s grace was powerfully at work in them all.
This is essential to understand:
The Risen Life is not sustained by effort.
It is sustained by grace.
Many believers start strong—but struggle to maintain momentum.
Why?
Because they shift from:
• dependence → self-reliance
• receiving → striving
• grace → effort
But the resurrection didn’t just bring new life.
It brought a new way of living.
Here is the dynamic of the Risen Life:
You love God by depending on His grace instead of relying solely on your own strength.
You acknowledge your need and remain connected to Him daily.
He loves you back by supplying the grace you need to live, serve, and persevere.
Grace becomes the power behind your consistency, your endurance, and your impact.
Grace is not weakness.
It is divine enablement.
The early believers didn’t burn out.
They overflowed—
because grace was at work in them.
Faith in Action
Grace must be received to be experienced.
The Challenge:
Identify one area where you feel overwhelmed, drained, or stretched.
Ask yourself:
• Am I striving or depending?
• Have I been trying to carry this alone?
Pause today.
Take a moment of stillness.
Then pray:
“Lord, I receive Your grace for this.”
Throughout the day, when pressure rises, repeat:
“I am not doing this alone—grace is at work in me.”
Let grace replace striving.
Prayer for the Day
Risen Lord, thank You that I am not called to live this life in my own strength. Forgive me for the times I rely on effort instead of depending on Your grace. Today, I choose to receive what You freely give. Fill me with Your grace so that I can live, serve, and endure with strength that comes from You. Help me to rest in Your provision and trust that You are working in me and through me. Thank You that Your grace is enough for every moment I face. Amen.
