Risen Life Day #24: Pray for Boldness
“Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable Your servants to speak Your word with great boldness.” — Acts 4:29 (NIV)

THE JOURNEY
Ethan felt the pressure building.
At work, conversations had shifted. Topics around faith were no longer neutral—they were sensitive, even controversial. He noticed how quickly people avoided anything that sounded “too religious.”
Ethan found himself pulling back.
He still believed.
He still prayed.
But he became quieter.
Safer.
One evening, after a long day, he sat in silence and admitted what he hadn’t said out loud before:
“I’m afraid.”
Not of danger—but of rejection.
Not of harm—but of being misunderstood.
That night, he opened his Bible and read Acts 4.
The early believers had just been threatened.
Warned.
Pressured.
Told to stop speaking in the name of Jesus.
Ethan expected their response to be caution.
Maybe even retreat.
But instead, they prayed.
Not for protection.
Not for comfort.
But for boldness.
That stopped him.
They didn’t ask for the pressure to go away.
They asked for courage to stand in the middle of it.
Ethan closed his Bible and prayed a simple prayer:
“Lord, make me bold.”
Heart of the Matter
Acts 4 reveals a powerful truth about the Risen Life:
Opposition does not weaken faith—it can deepen it.
When the early believers faced threats, they didn’t scatter.
They gathered.
They prayed.
And their prayer was specific:
“Enable Your servants to speak… with boldness.”
This is remarkable.
They didn’t ask God to remove the difficulty.
They asked Him to strengthen their response.
And what happened next?
The place where they were meeting was shaken.
They were filled with the Holy Spirit.
And they spoke the word of God boldly.
This is the pattern of resurrection living.
Here is the dynamic of the Risen Life:
You love God by bringing your fear to Him honestly and choosing to pray instead of retreat.
You don’t ignore pressure—you bring it into His presence.
He loves you back by filling you with boldness that surpasses your natural limits.
Prayer becomes the place where fear is exchanged for courage.
Boldness is not something you force.
It is something God forms in you when you seek Him.
The early believers didn’t become bold by trying harder.
They became bold by praying deeper.
Faith in Action
Boldness begins in prayer.
The Challenge:
Identify one area where fear has been influencing your behavior.
Be honest:
• Where have I been holding back?
• What am I afraid of?
Write it down.
Then pray this exact prayer:
“Lord, consider this fear—and make me bold.”
Repeat it throughout the day.
When the moment comes to act—trust that God will meet you there.
Prayer for the Day
Risen Lord, You see the fears I carry and the pressures I face. Nothing is hidden from You. Today, I choose not to retreat or shrink back. Instead, I bring everything to You in prayer. Just as the early believers did, I ask You: make me bold. Fill me with Your Spirit and give me the courage to stand firm, speak truth, and live faithfully. Help me to rely not on my strength, but on Your power working within me. Thank You that because You are alive, I can live with confidence and courage. Amen.
