Risen Life Day #6: The Power That Raised You

“I pray that you may know… His incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength He exerted when He raised Christ from the dead.”
— Ephesians 1:19–20 (NIV)

THE JOURNEY

Michael had always believed in God, but his life felt powerless.

He attended church faithfully, prayed before meals, and tried to live morally. Yet when real problems appeared—anxiety about money, fear about the future, conflicts at work—he felt no different from anyone else. Stress overwhelmed him. Worry consumed his thoughts. Faith, to him, seemed more like a comforting philosophy than a living force.

One evening during a small Bible study, the group was reading through Paul’s prayer in Ephesians. When they reached the words “the same power that raised Christ from the dead,” the leader paused and asked a simple question.

“Do you actually believe that power lives in you?”

The room grew quiet.

Michael realized that he had always admired the resurrection as a historical miracle, but he had never considered it a present reality. The resurrection was something Jesus experienced two thousand years ago, not something shaping his daily life.

That night he drove home thinking about the empty tomb.

If death itself could not hold Christ, why did he live as if fear still had authority over him?

Over the following months, Michael began approaching life differently. When anxiety surfaced, he reminded himself: the power that defeated death is already at work in me. When obstacles appeared, he stopped responding with defeat and started responding with expectation.

The circumstances didn’t magically disappear.

But something inside him changed.

He stopped living like a man trying to survive life and started living like someone backed by resurrection power.

Heart of the Matter

The resurrection of Jesus was not simply the climax of the Gospel story—it was the release of the greatest power the universe has ever known.

Think about what it took to raise Christ from the dead.

Death had done its work.
The body was sealed in a guarded tomb.
History had declared the story finished.

And then God moved.

The stone rolled away.
The grave lost its claim.
The impossible reversed itself.

Now here is Paul’s astonishing claim: that same resurrection power is already working inside every believer.

Many Christians live as if they have been forgiven but not empowered.

They believe Christ died for them, but they struggle to believe His victory now lives in them.

But the Risen Life is not simply about forgiveness of the past. It is about participation in resurrection power in the present.

Here is the dynamic of the Risen Life:

You love God by refusing to live beneath the authority of fear, sin, or defeat.
You step forward in faith, even when circumstances appear impossible. You choose courage over anxiety and obedience over hesitation.

He loves you back by supplying resurrection power that strengthens you from within.
The same Spirit that raised Christ now energizes your faith, renews your mind, and enables you to live beyond natural limits.

The empty tomb was not just proof that Jesus won.

It was proof that death no longer has the final word over those who belong to Him.

Faith in Action

Resurrection power changes how we respond to life’s battles.

The Challenge:

Identify one area of your life where you have been living with a defeated mindset.

Examples may include:

• Fear about the future
• A habit you feel powerless to break
• A challenge that seems impossible to overcome

Write this sentence on a piece of paper:

“Resurrection power is stronger than this.”

Place the paper somewhere visible today—on your desk, mirror, or phone case.

Every time you see it, declare out loud:

“The same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in me.”

Let that truth reshape how you face the challenge.

Prayer for the Day

Risen Lord, thank You that Your victory over death was not only for the world but also for my life today. Forgive me for the times I live as if I am powerless, forgetting the strength You have placed inside me. Open my eyes to the reality of resurrection power working within me. Teach me to face challenges with faith instead of fear and to walk forward in the authority of the life You have given me. Let Your power be evident in my thoughts, my choices, and my courage. In Your mighty name, Amen.
