Good News #315: Through Jesus, All My Sins Are Forgiven; God is No Longer Angry at Me, and Instead, I Am Forever Loved by the Father!
God is perfect holiness, justice, righteousness, love, grace, mercy, compassion…
The bible is clear that God does not clear the guilty. (see Exodus 34:7, Numbers 14:18)
God executes holy justice against all sins, transgressions and iniquities…
Yet God’s delight is in “chesed” which is grace, mercy, lovingkindness, compassion…
How did God reconcile all His holy attributes?
Through the cross of Jesus Christ… the sacrifice of His Son as Jesus willingly laid down His life as the Perfect Sacrificial Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
At the cross, we see the perfect holiness, justice and righteousness of God as He dealt with all our iniquities… not on our bodies… but on the body of our Lord Jesus who gave His life for us…
At the cross, we see perfect love, grace, mercy, compassion… as our Lord God Jesus Christ chose to hang on the cross to die the death we all deserve…
Psalm 85:10 is an old testament glimpse of what happened at the cross… it says:
Mercy and truth have met together;
Righteousness and peace have kissed.
The cross is God’s answer to meet the requirements of both His divine law and the delight of His heart as our Father God who is loving, merciful and gracious… not wanting for anyone to die.
The gospel is this — God fully displayed His holiness, divine justice and righteousness in dealing with all our sins at the cross… in the body of our Lord and Saviour Jesus…
And now that sin has been dealt with, God can legally be as merciful… as gracious as He wants to be with anyone…
His delight is in “chesed” (grace, mercy, lovingkindness)
