Good News #154: God’s Gentleness Has Made My Life Great; I Thank Him for Giving Me Jesus as My Salvation!

The world is abundant with leadership development programs, life improvement techniques, career enhancement strategies, business expansion methods, etc. and if we look closely into the backdrop of these ideologies, we find that they are built on one common underlying principle — scarcity… of resources… of opportunities… of everything.

Thus making obvious the unstated yet real world reality of fierce competition — grabbing first… getting there first before someone else does or else you’ve lost out…

This is why we see expressions like “strike while the iron is hot”, “know your competitor”, “never stop innovating”, “get ahead of the competition”, etc…

We even see expressions glorifying overworking like “sleep is for the weak”…

And so industries become cutthroat and leaders become ruthless and heavy-handed…

This is world reality…

Yet believers are called out of this mindset… this way of operation… as the word of God shows us a more excellent way to thrive… the way of our God: His right hand holding us up. His gentleness making us great.

In Israel, when you want to say “Thank you very much” or “Thanks a lot”, you say “toda rabah”… where rabah is the match of the expression “very much” or “a lot”…

Rabah carries the idea of increase in whatever respect… of abundance… of being multiplied… of being made great…

Psalm 18:35 is therefore, in essence, telling us The Lord’s gentle guidance and shepherding increases us… enlarges us… prospers us… making us great…

The gospel is this — The Lord Jesus does not lead or shepherd with a ruthless and heavy-handed manner. He is gentle in His ways and His gentleness makes us great… and there is absolutely no need to be cutthroat with anyone because He makes His children operate in the economy of heaven — an economy that does not know lack.

Isn’t our Lord Jesus wonderful?
