Spiritual Warfare
As the world grapples with the pandemic caused by the coronavirus, many are anxious and fearful. Every day, reports inundate us with the increasing number of individuals who contracted COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus. Add to this grim picture: the increasing number of deaths associated with it.
Understandably, people are in despair grasping for any shred of hope. For some, hope is even a foreign concept in these desperate times. There seems to be nothing that could stop the death and destruction of lives that the coronavirus brings. Panic is the new norm; social isolation and social distancing is the new way of life.
Amid all of this, we are faced with questions, among them: When will this nightmare end? Who will it affect next? What can be done to help?
For those in the frontlines of this fight, the threat is real. While making sure that patients still get the best care possible, health care workers are also extra careful that they don’t contract the disease – for the sake of loved ones at home, co-workers and the other patients.
While the race for a cure or vaccine is ongoing, individuals can continue to heed the call to stay home, minimize non-essential movements, and avoid gatherings. This will help “flatten the curve” so the infection and disease spreads at a slower pace. In the meantime, while at home, be physically active, eat healthy, enjoy the company of family, and perhaps, learn something new. These actions are evidence-based and effective, based on proven best practices.
What we can see: the battle against the enemy is waged in the physical world. As with any battle, there are soldiers fighting for the cause, and there are casualties. The aim is to destroy and defeat the enemy, once and for all, and minimize the losses in the process. However, this battle against the coronavirus is not just physical in nature, it is also spiritual. Right now, at this very moment, the spiritual world is also at war.
Not everyone can be a doctor, nurse, clinician, or emergency responder who can be in the forefront of the physical battle to combat the coronavirus. But anyone who are Christ-believers can use the full arsenal and armory of their God-given authority and power, by faith, to fight and win the spiritual battle. These Christ-believers, you and I, are the spiritual soldiers, combatting and winning against this invisible enemy.

Let us, as Christ-believers, stand up by faith, fight for the cause, and altogether as a community, win this fight against the coronavirus. Defeating and destroying this enemy, once and for all, is the ultimate goal.

We may be the spiritual soldiers in this battle, but we are not alone in this fight. In fact, we have our Father – fighting the battle with us, for us and in us; we have Jesus – with His finished and redemptive work on the cross, as our sure and unshakeable foundation to stand on; and we have the Holy Spirit – guiding and leading us always in our ways, providing us the wisdom to defeat and destroy the enemy.
The 21-Day Challenge
Every day, for the next 21 days, we will remind Christ-believers of their God-given authority and power, spiritual ammunitions, and potent weaponry to combat the enemy – to ensure its ultimate demise and destruction. If you are a Christ-believer, we encourage you to come back daily – for a daily dose of marching orders to showcase our dominion over the power of the enemy. And recruit other Christ-believers by sharing the truths of our faith, as we face, fight and defeat the enemy head on – not as weaklings but already victors.
To God be the glory, honor and praise, Amen!
