Day 11: The Lord Fight Your Battles
If three armies of enemies get into an alliance to come against your army, you have options. You can do any, a combination or all of the following:
- send a party to the enemies’ alliance and make an alliance with them,
- find other armies to be in alliance with to strengthen your army,
or - fight the alliance to the death.
These are options in the natural.
One king by the name Jehoshaphat actually got into such situation. Three armies from Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir came marching towards the land of Judah.
Interestingly, Jehoshaphat did not do any of the mentioned above. Here’s the account of what he did:
And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. So Judah gathered together to ask help from the Lord; and from all the cities of Judah they came to seek the Lord.
2 CHRONICLES 20:3-4, NKJV
And when he (Jehoshaphat) had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the Lord, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying:

“Praise the Lord,
For His mercy endures forever.”
Jehoshaphat did not look to man for help; neither did he look to himself for strength. He sought the Lord for help, urged his entire kingdom to do the same and because Jehoshaphat did so, the Lord honored his cry for help.
The Lord fought their battle for them. They didn’t even have to lift a finger.
Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated.
2 CHRONICLES 20:22, NKJV
Everything in life actually comes down to two basic choices — let God or don’t let God.
Jehoshaphat choose to let God and we should, too. Whether we admit it or not, we are all caught in the battle of the ages and we need to choose which side we are on.
When we choose to hide in the army of the Lord, He fights our enemies for us.
Faith is not being passive about things but it is about participating in what God is doing and the only participation needed is worshipping and praising God even in the midst of marching armies towards you.
Reflection Question:
Do you know that God wants to fight your battles for you? But He waits for you to give Him permission to do so because He will never violate your free will.
Radical Faith in Action:
When you find yourself caught in worries and burdens, give God permission to sort those out for you by singing His praises.
Choose songs that sing of His grace, mercy and goodness and let Him do the fighting for you.
