Good News #304: Jesus is My Refuge and Fortress, Only In Him Will I Put My Trust!

The word “refuge” in Psalm 91:2 is the Hebrew word “machaseh” which means a shelter, a place to flee to for protection; the word “fortress” is the Hebrew word “matsud” which means a stronghold, a place of defence.

In life, we will have small and big attacks from the enemy; we will experience small and big storms in life either from the consequences of our actions or the actions of others or from a direct attack from the enemy.

Take note that none of these attacks and storms in life come from God. In fact, He wants to protect us from all of these… and so He made Himself available to be our refuge… a shelter to quickly run to when life’s heavy torrential downpour comes… and to be our fortress… a stronghold to run to when life’s megastorms come.

He made Himself available to be our refuge… when the enemy comes to attack us with condemnation, fear, doubts… and to be our fortress… when the enemy comes to attack with diseases, schemes to create accidents, etc…

Jesus has already defeated the enemy but the enemy does not play by the rules and the enemy continues to deceive and hurt people, even born again believers…

But the gospel is this — We have a place of protection and safety IN CHRIST JESUS — our refuge and fortress.
When we put our trust in Him, He keeps us safe, secure, protected and most of all, enjoy our blood-bought inheritance of a redeemed victorious life.
Whatta Saviour-Protector we have in Jesus!

I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”
