Good News #224: Nothing and No One Can Snatch Me from Jesus’ Hands, I Am Always Held by Him!

It would be a lie to say that once we are born again in the Spirit, we no longer commit sinful actions, think sinful thoughts and speak sinful words.

Yes, the rebirth makes us totally new in our spirit; our old dead spirit died and we are given brand new spirits.
But the rebirth happens to our spirits; our souls (where our thoughts, emotions, desires, memories, etc…are) and our bodies remains the same.

No one loses their memory or their bodies when they experience the rebirth at the moment they choose to believe in Jesus and accept Him as Lord and Saviour, Son of God.

And so because the memories, habits, behaviours are still with us, there is a bent in us to repeat the same patterns before we were born again. This is why Romans 12:2 urges us to renew our minds because this is where our old patterns are filed away.

Today, there are christians who think that when they do stumble and fall back into their old patterns that they’ve lost their grip on God, as if it was them holding on to The Lord… as if their performance is the reason they are able to hold on to Him….

But, Jesus Himself said in John 10:27-28:
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.”

Jesus is holding us; we are in His hands; it’s not us holding on to Him.
Besides, no sheep really holds on to its shepherd… no sheep tries to perform for its shepherd… sheep just does what sheep does.

Obviously, we are not advocating for anyone to sin…

But the gospel is this — our actions do not make us lose The Lord.
Jesus is the One holding us in His hand…
And Jesus said noone (not even yourself) can snatch us out of His hand.
We are in very capable hands so maybe we should calm down and just be His sheep.

And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.
