Good News #199: Because of Jesus, I Am Seated in a Position of Influence That Will Make a Difference Where I Am Planted!
We all know Jesus is The True Light of the World. Yet, we also know that Jesus makes everyone who believes in Him vessels of His light.
In Matthew 5:14-15, Jesus said:
“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.”
In other words, once you believe in Jesus and receive Him as your Lord and Saviour, He makes you a light to the world… He sets you up like a city on a hill… He lights you up like a lamp and puts you on a lampstand to give light to all in a house.
He spoke Matthew 5:14-15 prior to His death and resurrection.
But after He resurrected from the dead, Jesus broadened the extent by saying in Matthew 28:19: (emphasis mine)
“Go therefore and make disciples of ALL THE NATIONS, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
Jesus was no longer just talking about a city or a hill or a house… He spoke of nations… not singular but plural… nationS…. which means cities, hills, houses, etc…
You see, God’s vision for His children is so great that in His wisdom, He sees them influencing, moving, shaking nations… and He will bring them in the company of those who carry authority over lands and nations to do so.
The gospel is this — through the sacrifice of Jesus, born again believers were reborn into a greatness far greater than before their rebirth… in the born again life, it is not a matter of whether or not one gets into a position of influence… but a matter of WHEN… because born again children of God now carry the DNA of Jesus Himself, The Great I Am.
