Good News #137: Because the Light of the World, Jesus, is With Me, I Will Fear No Evil!
Have you ever heard of someone dying after being passed over by THE SHADOW of a running truck?
No?… Neither have I…
and that’s because a shadow never hurts anyone…
It doesn’t matter if the shadows of a million trucks pass over you… their shadows cannot hurt you…
In the same manner, the shadow of death cannot hurt you… death is but a mere shadow because it has been disempowered… disarmed… defeated… by our Lord Christ Jesus over two thousand years ago…
1 Corinthians 15:55 rightly asks…
“O death, where is your sting?
O hades, where is your victory?”
The answer? death lost its sting… hades lost its victory…
AND…
More importantly, in the valley of the shadow of death, you are not alone…
Our Lord Jesus is with you — your Shepherd [Psalm 23:1]… The Good Shepherd [John 10:11, 14]…
who is also…
The Light of the World [John 8:12, 9:5]…
And guess what LIGHT does…
Light dispels shadows… darknesses… so that even the shadow of what used to enslave you is no more to be found…
The gospel is this — Jesus has overcome death… and while the shadow of death lingers… Jesus, THE GOOD SHEPHERD will WALK you THROUGH the valley… He will NOT let you STAY IN the valley…
And yet while you are in the valley of the shadow of death, Jesus, THE LIGHT of the world, will illuminate it so that you will never walk in its darkness.
