Good News #127: As I Am God’s Righteousness in Jesus, I Shall Receive His Rewards in Life!
Matthew 10:41 contain the words of Jesus that form part of a discourse He had with His twelve disciples when He gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.
Jesus intimated that whoever receives His disciples, AT THAT POINT IN TIME, will receive the rewards designated for His disciples.
Emphasis on “AT THAT POINT IN TIME”, why?… Because when Jesus spoke these words, the gift of salvation and eternal redemption through His death, burial and resurrection had not yet been made available because, quite obviously, Jesus had not yet gone to the cross.
But as for us, we live in a different point of time — we live AFTER the cross happened.
Today, when we receive the gospel of the grace of Christ spoken by anyone who believes in Christ, we are not receiving just that believer’s reward… we are, as a matter of fact, receiving the Ultimate Reward of Christ Himself, His Spirit in us, His life running in our veins, and all His rewards for His perfect obedience to The Father…
Jesus suffered everything that we deserve to suffer… even death itself…so that everyone who believes in Him and receives His finished work as the ultimate sacrifice for eternal salvation, redemption, sanctification and justification, etc…receives everything only He deserves (and let’s not limit the goodness of God to what is spiritual and invisible) which include: health, wholeness, prosperity, divine protection, joy, success, blessed relationships, favor among men, etc…
Look — None of us deserves all the goodness that Jesus deserves but the question of Romans 8:32 rings true for everyone who believes in Jesus:
He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
The gospel is this — God The Father takes pleasure in giving you the kingdom… He only asks that you receive and believe in His Son Jesus and what He did…. and all that Jesus deserves is put in your account, ready for withdrawal by faith.
Whatta God we have!
Whatta gracious, gracious God we have!
