Today, our enemies are not people… not flesh and blood… but powers of spiritual darkness…
Ephesians 6:12 says…
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
The only agenda of these spiritual hosts of wickedness is summarized in the statement of Jesus in John 10:10 where He said…
“The thief comes only to steal, slaughter, and destroy…”
The thief referring to the devil and his cohorts…they are thieves, robbers, murderers and destroyers…
These powers of spiritual darkness accomplish things by working through people… against people… even those people used to accomplish their evil purposes…
The devil is called the ruler of this world (Jesus said so in John 12:31, 14:30, 16:11). This means every human being born into this world is born enslaved to these spiritual hosts of wickedness…
But we all know the story — Jesus has defeated the devil… and now, everyone who believes in Jesus, He puts in them His Holy Spirit… One much, much mightier and greater than the devil… to fight against any attempt of the devil to enslave them again…
1 John 4:4 says about the Holy Spirit this way — “He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”
Listen, the promises of God in His word is not for the entire world…it is for those who believe in Jesus because in believing in Him, they get adopted into God’s family as His sons and daughters.
The gospel is this — When you believe in Jesus, you become a child of God…and as a child of God, the Holy Spirit in you is He who never leaves nor forsakes, fighting for you to preserve you.
This divine security is only made possible and available through the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus.
He goes with you!
He fights for you!
Whatta God we have!
Jesus is the gospel!
