Good News #122: My Steps Are Directed by the Lord, For I Am in Christ Jesus!
There are things of God meant for the entire world
BUT…
there are things of God reserved only for His children.
When Jesus still walked the earth, in Matthew 5:45, He said that The Father makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
After His resurrection and glorification, 2 Corinthians 1:20 says…
For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.
Both “in Him” in this verse means “in Christ Jesus”…
Guess who are “in Christ Jesus” — Those who believe in Him, of course!
Many scriptures say so…e.g.,
Romans 6:11
1 Corinthians 1:30
Ephesians 2:5-6
1 Peter 5:14
1 John 4:13, 15
Jude 1:1
When you are “in Christ Jesus”, it means…
you’ve been born again…
you’re a child of God…
God is not just God to you but He is Father… Abba Father…
This means that His perfect gifts (reserved only for His sons and daughters) are yours…
Just as earthly fathers only give their inheritance to their own children and not their neighbor’s…. so The Father in heaven gives His inheritance only to His children in and through Christ Jesus…not to the world who does not believe in His Son.
The gospel is this — The moment you believe and receive Jesus, you received eternal adoption into God’s family and with it, a brand new heart (not one of stone but of flesh) [Ezekiel 11:19, 36:26].
This new heart beats in the rhythm of His Spirit who brings forth godly desires, passions and plans from within you…of which He Himself will direct your steps to accomplish.
These are only available to the children of God…
And being a child of God is only made possible and available through and in Christ Jesus.
The wonderful things brought forth from the finished work of Jesus at the cross is endless…
It’ll take an eternity for us to discover all of them…
In the mean time, while we are bodily on earth, He aligns us to His plans and He Himself directs our steps to see the fruition of His wonderful plans in our lives.
Whatta wonderful Father we have in our God!
