Good News #87: Jesus Christ is the Living Water; He Quenches My Thirst and Allows Me to Drink From Him!

It is pride to think that as Christians, we are not to receive anything from God and that it must be us giving TO Him, sacrificing FOR Him, giving our service TO Him… as if we have anything to give to Him that did not first come from Him.

1 John 4:19 says…
We love because He first loved us.

It means our capacity to love is because He poured out His love unto us first.

Jesus said in Matthew 20:28 and Mark 10:45…
“…the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

It means our capacity to serve comes when we allow Him to serve us. Our life came from Him giving up His life for us.

Jesus also said in John 15:5…
“I am the vine, you are the branches…”

It means our ability to be a branch came from the sap that comes from Him, The Vine. We only bear the fruit that The Vine has produced.

Jesus wants to serve you first…so He says, “DRINK” because it is only in you receiving from Him that you will be able to give.

DRINK…do not just draw water for others…DRINK and when we do, rivers of living water will flow out of us which will minister to others.

The gospel is this — the posture of humility towards God is displayed in our openness to receive from Him. It is when we receive from Him that we are able to freely give back to Him and freely give to others as well.

We have a God who never wants us to operate out of our emptiness and our lack.
He wants to fill us first because truly we can do nothing apart from Him.

Whatta God we have!

On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”
