Good News #40: Forgiveness is a Free Gift Paid for by Jesus and Can Never Be Earned!
If You, Lord, should mark iniquities,
O Lord, who could stand?
But there is forgiveness with You,
That You may be feared.
Psalm 130:3-4
Some have isolated the gospel to the new testament section of their bibles.
However, if the gospel is only to be found in the new testament then Jesus (in His resurrected form, mind you) would not have done what He did in Luke 24:27 where it says…
And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.
When Jesus resurrected from the dead and expounded to the two disciples, on the road to Emmaus in Luke 24, in ALL SCRIPTURES the things concerning Himself… Jesus was expounding from the OLD TESTAMENT scriptures because none of the four gospels and succeeding epistles have been written at that point.
In the early days of His ministry, we read in Luke 4:18, Jesus reading from Isaiah’s scroll…
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
TO PREACH THE GOSPEL…”
Being Jewish, Jesus must have had gone to the synagogues and read more than this one time but this is the only account the Holy Spirit made a point to record for us to show us that Jesus came to fulfill what was written about Him in the old testament scriptures.

…is a foreshadow of the gospel of Christ.
FORGIVENESS is what He came to offer…
NOT condemnation…
NOT judgment…
so that people will learn godly fear… not being afraid… but reverence and awe and worship knowing they stand in the presence of His Glorious Majesty…
The gospel never had, never have and never will have any trace of condemnation or judgment toward humanity, lost or found… it will always ring about FORGIVENESS through the shedding of the blood of the Lamb and the death, burial and resurrection of Christ Jesus.
Whatta gospel we have in Jesus!
