Risen Life Day #12: You Are a Witness

“You are witnesses of these things.” — Luke 24:48 (NIV)

THE JOURNEY

Andre never saw himself as someone who could talk about faith.

He wasn’t a preacher. He didn’t know enough Scripture to feel confident. Whenever spiritual conversations came up, he stayed quiet, afraid he might say the wrong thing.

But everything shifted after a quiet moment at work.

A coworker, Jason, had been going through a difficult divorce. One afternoon during lunch, Jason opened up about the weight he had been carrying—fear, regret, and a deep sense of emptiness.

Andre listened.

At the end of the conversation, there was an awkward pause. Andre felt a nudge in his heart to say something—but his old thoughts kicked in:

You’re not qualified.
You don’t know what to say.

Then another thought came, quieter but stronger:

Just tell him what God has done for you.

So Andre did.

He didn’t preach.
He didn’t quote a dozen verses.

He simply shared how God had carried him through his own struggles, how Christ had brought peace into his life, and how he knew that same hope was available.

Jason didn’t respond immediately.

But a week later, he came back and said, “What you said stuck with me.”

That moment changed Andre’s perspective.

Being a witness wasn’t about having all the answers.

It was about sharing what he had seen, what he had experienced, and what he knew to be true.

Heart of the Matter

After His resurrection, Jesus spent time with His disciples preparing them for what came next.

He didn’t tell them to become experts overnight.

He didn’t require them to master theology before stepping out.

He gave them a simple identity:

“You are witnesses.”

A witness is not someone who argues a case.

A witness is someone who tells what they have seen.

The disciples had seen:

• the life of Jesus
• the power of His miracles
• the reality of His death
• and now—the undeniable truth of His resurrection

And that was enough.

The same is true today.

Many believers hesitate to share their faith because they feel unqualified.

They think:

• “I don’t know enough.”
• “What if I can’t answer their questions?”
• “Someone else is better at this than me.”

But the Risen Life reframes everything.

Here is the dynamic of the Risen Life:

You love God by being willing to share your story honestly.
You don’t wait for perfection—you step forward with authenticity.

He loves you back by using your testimony to impact others in ways you cannot predict.
The power is not in your eloquence—it is in the truth of what Christ has done in your life.

The resurrection is not just something to believe.

It is something to bear witness to.

You don’t need to have every answer.

You only need to be willing to say:

“This is what I have seen. This is what He has done in me.”

Faith in Action

Witnessing begins with simple, honest conversations.

The Challenge:

Think of one person in your life who may need encouragement or hope.

Ask yourself:

• What has God done in my life that I can share?
• What part of my story could help someone else?

Write down a short version of your story in 2–3 sentences.

Example:

“There was a time when I felt ____. But God met me in that place and ____. Now I am experiencing ____ because of Him.”

Pray for courage.

Then look for an opportunity—natural, not forced—to share it.

Prayer for the Day

Risen Lord, thank You that You have called me to be a witness of Your life, Your power, and Your resurrection. I confess that fear and insecurity sometimes keep me silent. But today, I choose to step forward in faith. Help me to share my story with honesty and humility. Use my life as a reflection of Your goodness. Give me the courage to speak when opportunities arise and the wisdom to do so with love. Thank You that You can use even my simple words to make an eternal impact. Amen.
