Good News #334: When I Need Help, I Will Not Hesitate to Call Upon Jesus, and With His Grace and Might, He Will Gladly Save!
One of the mistakes we, as Christians, make is that we accept the false imagery of God that religion has painted for us. We think God is a sensitive brat who walks away from us and sulks in a corner when He does not get His way.
Many of us will deny that we think of God this way, but we do… we treat Him as such… we act towards Him as such… we blame Him as such… we respond to Him as such…
We say things like “God is punishing me for this” when in reality, He really is not…
The issue of sin has already been dealt with once and for all at the cross and through the sacrifice of Jesus.
His sacrifice is complete and finished; we need to stop acting like it is not.
We always give God the blame and end up giving the devil more credit for good things. It’s a messed-up way of thinking… and we can deny it however we want, but we are all guilty of this, one way or another… to some degree.
But the Bible is clear on the character of our Lord God — He is strong, stable, mighty, powerful… He is a Big God… Nothing intimidates Him. We can’t make Him deny His nature and character. His character is independent of our characters.
And He stands in our midst — He Himself says He will never leave nor forsake.
He always stands ready to save and give His entire being for you… to deliver you and bless you and prosper you and protect and preserve you.
The question is whether you are allowing Him to do so.
The gospel is this — The Lord is not removed from your situation.
The Lord stands in your midst.
He has never abandoned you… He never will.
yet He waits for you to allow Him to do what you can never do for yourself — that is, to save you from all the troubles in life… even if it means saving you from yourself.
