Good News #324: God’s Supply of His Grace in My Life is Overflowing and Continuously in Abundance, All Because of Jesus!

A common misconception about the character of The Lord God is that of stinginess, as if He is unwilling to give us more than we need… as if He only gives just enough for us to survive… as if He withholds abundance from us…

This is simply and absolutely not true.

Even in the old testament, we see God’s abundant generosity.

In 1 Kings 17:8-16, The Lord supplied Elijah and the widow from Zarephath with the little flour and oil the widow had. The Lord multiplied it and had Elijah, the widow, and her entire household eating from the supply for many days.

In 2 Kings 4:1-7, a widow asks Elisha for help, so her two sons won’t be taken away as slaves by her creditors. The Lord multiplied the little oil she had in her pot that she was able to fill all the empty vessels she borrowed from her neighbors, pay off her debt, and have more than enough left for her and her sons to live on.

Fast forward to the new testament, Jesus manifested God Himself in the physical form, displaying what a generous God we have who abundantly supplies our needs exceeding our imagination.

Take the case of how Jesus multiplied seven loaves and a few small fish for four thousand men, not including women and children. The account says “they ate and were all filled, ” meaning they did not just have a bite. They had all the bread and fish they wanted until they were full. Even with that, there were seven baskets full of leftovers. (Mt. 15:32-39, Mk. 8:1-9)

Take the case of how Jesus multiplied five barley loaves and two fish for five thousand men, not including women and children. The account again says, “they ate and were all filled, ” which means they did not just have a bite. They had all the bread and fish they wanted until they were full. Even with that, there were twelve baskets full of leftovers. (Mt. 14:15-21, Mk. 6:35-44, Lk. 9:12-17, Jn. 6:4-14)

The gospel is this — our God is unchanging.
He gives, and He gives abundantly.
He gives NOT a land with stagnant milk and honey.
He gives a land FLOWING with milk and honey… it means an endless supply of fresh, flowing provision.
His abundant blessings make it easy for us to be a blessing to others.
