Good News #286: As My Shepherd, Jesus is Gentle to Me, He Carries Me in His Bosom and Leads Me to Safety!

Even today, there are Christians who believe that our Lord God disciplines His children with sickness or poverty or accidents or leaves them alone when they fail… This is a sick belief system… one that comes from the pit of hell… it is absolutely not scriptural considering that we no longer live under the old covenant.

In both old testament and new testament, a prominent picture that the Holy Spirit paints our Lord Jesus as is that of being The Good Shepherd.

In the natural, no human shepherd will starve his sheep… no human shepherd will mix poison in the water troughs for his sheep to give them a disease… no human shepherd will beat a sheep when the sheep leaves the flock… no human shepherd who sees a flock heading toward a cliff will just watch the sheep fall off the cliff to its death…

And yet… we, Christians, paint our God as if He is worse than any human shepherd because we say He gives sicknesses or poverty or diseases or sends accidents to teach us a lesson… This is an evil doctrine.

Jesus Himself said in John 10:11 and John 10:14 that He is The Good Shepherd.

Jesus also said in John 10:30 that He and The Father are One.

This means that just as Jesus (God The Son) is The Good Shepherd… so is God The Father… and so is God The Holy Spirit… The Three in One…

The gospel is this — The Triune God is The Good Shepherd.
There is no variation in His goodness.
He will feed and gather us, His lambs, in His arms and carry us in His bosom and He will gently lead us.
Our God is a gentle loving God.
He will never hurt us.

He will feed His flock like a shepherd;
He will gather the lambs with His arm,
And carry them in His bosom,
And gently lead those who are with young.
