Good News #280: By Beholding Jesus, I Am Transformed Into His Image From Glory to Glory by His Spirit!

The old testament is a foreshadow of the things to come and truths of the new testament.

2 Corinthians 3:18 says:
But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

This is telling us that if we want to be conformed to the image of our Lord Jesus Himself, we behold His glories… and the Holy Spirit Himself transforms us to reflect the image of Jesus.

The reality of this world is that there are many things that compete for our attention and if we allow ourselves to give every single one of these our attention, we won’t be able to handle it… it would affect our peace, our health, our relationships, etc… it would ruin us… This is obviously not saying we are to abandon our responsibilities but that we are to carry out our lives with a consciousness of His goodness.

The bible counsels us to look to Jesus… fix our eyes on Jesus… seek His righteousness… His glories and excellencies… why? because it is through this conscious effort of focusing our attention on Him that everything else falls into place… because He will reward us for it… Hebrews 11:6 says our God is a great rewarder of those who seek Him… Matthew 6:33 tells us to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness (not our own) and all things will be added to us…

And think about it… if our Lord rewards us for seeking Him by adding all the good things that we will ever need in our life (and overflowing), would it not change our countenance? Would it not naturally add a radiance in our faces? and yet… when we seek Him, He gives us the privilege of reflecting His radiance through the workings of the Holy Spirit.
Isn’t that amazing?

The gospel is this — true radiance comes not from our own doing.
Noone can manufacture true radiance…
yet the Lord gives us the privilege of reflecting His radiance when we look to Him.
And as a reward for taking this privilege, He rewards us with good things that will not put us to shame.

They looked to Him and were radiant,
And their faces were not ashamed.
