Good News #241: Through Jesus, God’s Will For My Life Is To Be Fruitful And To Bear Much Fruit!

Many Bible versions have translated this verse as “Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away…” or worse, “…He cuts off…”

Yet when we look at the original Greek of which the new testament is written, the word translated as “take away” or “cut off” is the Greek word, aero (airō).

aero (airō) is where we get terms such as aeroplane… aeronautics… aerodynamics…
aero carries the idea of air… atmosphere…

This means it is better translated as saying “He lifts up…”

Also, in agriculture, it is common knowledge that vine branches close to the ground or worse, lying on the ground, get covered in soil particles which impede production or bearing of fruit. These branches are lifted up and oftentimes, wrapped around a trellis to keep them off the ground.

This act of keeping the branches off the ground and lifting them up is what Jesus is illustrating for us…. not cutting them off or taking them away… because taking away or cutting off most certainly results in the death of the branch since it is cut off from its source… which will contradict what He Himself said in these:

“…I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10)

“All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.” (John 6:37)

“I and My Father are One.” (John 10:30)

Jesus will never contradict Himself… He gives life and gives it abundantly…
The Father will also never contradict Himself… if He gives them to Jesus and they do come and are now branches in Him, The Father will not take them away or cut them off…
Jesus and The Father will also never contradict each other… if Jesus will by no means cast out anyone that has already become a branch in Him, neither will The Father take them away or cut them off…

The gospel is this — when you are in Christ and fruitless, do not be afraid.
The Father will not take you away. The Father will not cut you off.
And neither will Jesus.
The Father will lift you up and bring you higher so that you will start bearing fruit in Jesus, The True Vine.
We have a truly wonderfully consistently good God of Whom there is no variation.

Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He [a]takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
