Good News #227: Because I Believe in Jesus and His Resurrection, I Am Extraordinarily Blessed and Favored!

I doubt most of us, if not all, would think we are blessed compared to the men and women in the Bible during Jesus’ time who have walked with Him, spoken to Him face to face in the flesh, have seen the miracles with their own eyes, sat in His teachings, heard His words in His own voice, have eaten with Him especially in His resurrected Self, physically walked with Him, etc.

I mean who can blame us? Who doesn’t want to have experienced all these things right when it happened where Jesus was, right?

But then Jesus invites us to think differently by saying these words:
“….Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

That’s remarkable. Jesus thinks of all of us today blessed because we have not seen Him and yet we believe in Him.

He Himself has pronounced us blessed simply because we believe in Him without seeing Him with our own eyes.
Isn’t it like our wonderful Lord Jesus to put all of us on equal ground when it comes to being blessed by Him?

We who now walk by faith (and not by sight) in believing He is The Son of God who came and died for our sins and resurrected from the dead have been blessed by Jesus more than two thousand years ago.

The gospel is this — we are blessed because Jesus said so. We are blessed because Jesus Himself pronounced us blessed… and all we really have to do is agree with Him and receive His blessing upon us who do believe in Him without seeing Him.
