Good News #218: I Am Assured that Jesus’ Promises and Purposes for My Life, He is Able and Willing to Do and He Will Bring Them to Pass!

There is a stark contrast between the old covenant of the law and the new covenant of grace… and it is especially clear in the focus of who is doing what needs to be done.

The old covenant of the law is always premised on man’s doing where we read a lot of “you shall…”

Yet during period of the old covenant, we also find multiple glimpses of the new covenant where God Himself says “I will…” which we find getting iterated in the book of Hebrews.

The grandest display of God turning the many “you shall…” into “I will…” is when He sent His only Son Jesus to do for man what man can never do on his own… which is to fulfill all the “you shall…” and “if you obey…” in the old covenant so that through His doing, fulfilling and obeying, man receives the promised blessings in Him and through Him.

The gospel is this — The Word of God has become flesh and The Word made flesh fulfilled every law, statute, precept, commandment that God had spoken through His prophets in time past… so that by believing in Him, every blessing, promise and purpose God had spoken gets fulfilled in your life.

For all of God’s promises, the Yes and the Amen are in Christ Jesus!
In and through Jesus do we receive the fulfillment of all of God’s promises.

Calling a bird of prey from the east,
The man who executes My counsel, from a far country.
Indeed I have spoken it;
I will also bring it to pass.
I have purposed it;
I will also do it.

Isaiah 46:11
