Good News #209: Jesus is Revealing His Glory to Me By Showering His Goodness Upon My Life!

Today, there are christians who believe and have been taught that God gives people sickness to teach a lesson or that God sends people accidents to bring them back to Him or that God impoverishes to humble people.

This kind of teaching or belief system goes against the very grain of what Jesus taught and demonstrated.

Acts 10:38 says Jesus went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John testify to this. Nowhere in the gospels do we find Jesus making someone sick, not even those who persecuted Him and plotted against Him.

Nowhere in the gospels do we find Jesus making someone poor. And if you’re thinking about Jesus asking the rich young ruler to sell all he has and give to the poor and to come and follow Him, it would be good to note that the ruler was never a disciple so the words of Jesus to him does not apply to those who believe in Jesus… because right after the conversation with the rich young ruler, Jesus said to Peter these words in Mark 10:29-30 (emphasis mine):

“Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel’s, who shall not receive a HUNDREDFOLD NOW IN THIS TIME — houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions — and in the age to come, eternal life.”

These words of Jesus to Peter are what apply to those who believe in Him, not what He said to the rich young ruler.

Also, in the gospels, we find that everytime people receive from Jesus… healing, miracles, food… they glorify God. God’s glory is highlighted through His goodness on people.

The gospel is this — The glory of God is revealed in His goodness. God is glorified when His goodness is demonstrated in the lives of those who are in Him.

We have a far superior covenant with God than Moses had.
Ask Him to show you His glory… He will never disappoint.

And Moses said to God, “Please, show me Your glory.”
Then He said, “I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.”
