Good News #187: Because Jesus is My Hope and I Am Encouraged in Him, My Heart Shall Be Strengthened and Reinvigorated!
Proverbs 4:23 says:
Guard your heart diligently,
for from it flow the springs of life.
Leviticus 17:11 says:
For the life of the creature is in the blood…
Physiologically.
Our hearts pump blood throughout our entire body, delivering oxygen and needed nutrients.
We are kept alive by the blood that rhythmically flows throughout our body, thanks to the work of the heart.
Weak, dysfunctional or impaired hearts cause a variety of bodily health issues.
Pertaining to life.
Weak, broken, fearful or discouraged hearts cause mental health issues, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, suicidal tendencies and a variety of other life-threatening issues.
The Lord Jesus wants and wills for us to be free from all of these issues because these are all contrary to what He wants us to enjoy which is life and life more abundant. [see John 10:10]
So He makes Himself available for all of us to take courage and hope from…
And in us doing so, He rewards us by strengthening our hearts… unblocking arteries… reinvigorating it… renewing it… restoring it… keeping it healthy…
So that through strengthened hearts, the springs of life flow freely within us…
The gospel is this — Our Lord God delights in doing for us what we can never do for ourselves… as we make Him responsible for our well-being and life in general by putting our hope in Him and taking courage from Him, He rewards us…
It seems that the more we depend on Him and take from Him what we need, the more He delights in us.
