Good News #182: In Jesus and Only Through Him Will I Receive Life and Life More Abundant!
Heaven is a place where no trace of the curse and corruption of this fallen world exists. There are no hospitals in heaven because there is no sickness and death there. There is no poverty in heaven because there is no lack there. There are no tears of sorrow and pain because there aren’t any in heaven that would cause grief.
So when Jesus said in John 10:10b:
“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
Jesus meant this to be what we can receive here on earth…in this present life…apart from the life in heaven with Him after this life.
He said “I have come…” which means He came to give life HERE where He had come.
In fact, what He previously said in John 10:10a gives us the context. Jesus said:
“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.”
The thief (the devil) has no place in heaven… the thief cannot steal, kill and destroy in heaven…the thief can only do so here on earth, even from the sons and daughters of God…if they allow the enemy.
The reality is that here on earth are lots of paths to destruction and death…
But the gospel is this — The Lord has long ago promised to show mankind and to give to His own the path of life… Himself… The Way, The Truth and The Life… The path of life is in His presence where there is fullness of joy and pleasures forevermore.
Your becoming a born again child of God is immediate…not gradual until you pass on to heaven.
This means the very moment you became born again, God made Himself your Abba Father and He made everything He has all yours…
The question is “are you humble enough to ask and receive from Him?”.
Ask and receive… He delights in lavishing on you…
