Good News #146: Because of Jesus, God Remembers My Sins and Lawless Deeds No More; I Am Forgiven By His Grace!

In both Hebrews 8:12 and Hebrews 10:17, The Lord God is quoted speaking:
“…their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”

In other words, unlike popular religious teachings, God is not out waiting with a watchful eye for when we will sin, ready to pounce on us with a rod to punish….or at least record our sins to punish at a later time.

See, the matter of sin has been fully dealt with by Jesus at the cross. All sins were dealt with once and for all…punished once and for all… at the cross…

We have to remember — Jesus did not have sins of His own to die for… Jesus was punished and died for our sins…
Now, today, if God punishes us for our sins…the same sins that Jesus was punished for and ultimately, died for, it will make God unjust…

So when God says our sins and lawless deeds He will remember no more… He meant it because He remembered all our sins and lawless deeds…all of them more than two thousand years ago and punished every single one of them on the body of our Lord Jesus…not on our own…

The cross is a testament of His justice, holiness, righteousness and His love, grace, mercy, compassion…

Now, if God no longer remembers our sins and lawless deeds because and only because of the full atonement done through the shedding of the blood of Jesus and His death, what does God record and remember?

The answer is found in Malachi 3:16 where it says…
…a book of remembrance was written before Him
For those who fear the Lord
And who meditate on His name.

God loves it when we reverentially fear, meaning be in such awe at the wonder of His name — The Lord who forgives all your iniquities… The Lord who heals… The Lord who sees… The Lord our Righteousness… The Lord our banner… and many more…

This is the gospel — Today, God is not interested in keeping tab of our sins. It has all been paid for by Jesus.
God is very much interested at keeping tabs of the times we know Him and how much He is for us…

Whattan extraordinary God we have!

Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another,
And the Lord listened and heard them;
So a book of remembrance was written before Him
For those who fear the Lord
And who meditate on His name.
