Good News #142: Whatever Storms I Face in Life, I Am Always Assured That Jesus Never Leaves Nor Forsakes Me!

The word of God never promised that there will be no storms in life — we live in a fallen world.

But His word does promise countless times that He will be there to deliver, to save, to protect…

In fact, in the NEW covenant, God Himself bound Himself to a promise to never leave nor forsake anyone who believes in Jesus…

Hebrews 13:5 says…He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Now listen… the account of Jesus IMMEDIATELY RESCUING Peter when Peter started to sink as his faith wavered and his doubt got the best of him…
this account happened BEFORE Jesus died and rose from the dead…
in other words, it happened BEFORE Peter was born again in the spirit (because no one can be born again BEFORE Jesus rose from the dead)…
also in other words, it happened BEFORE the new covenant was instituted…

The old covenant was the covenant of the law…
The new covenant is the covenant of God’s grace…

Romans 6:14 says of those who believe in Jesus — you are not under the law but under grace.

Come to think about it — doubt is an expression of lack of faith, an expression of unbelief…

And Revelation 21:8 also tells us — the cowardly, UNBELIEVING, abominable…. shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

This means Peter was outrightly sinning in the Presence of Jesus…

YET… Jesus IMMEDIATELY RESCUED Peter… Peter who, at that point, was under the covenant of the law…
YET… unlike Peter at this point of rescue, we are not under the covenant of the law but under the covenant of grace…

The gospel is this — The new covenant is far more superior and glorious than the old covenant… and if Jesus did so for Peter under the old covenant…will He not do the same in the better covenant we are in which is cut in His very own blood?

Don’t let anyone tell you that when you doubt (or when you fail) God leaves you…God never goes against His word.

Jesus Himself said in Matthew 28:20…
“I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

We have an unwavering anchor in our God!
Whatta an awesome awesome God we have!

And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
