Good News #97: My Life’s Purpose is to Continue Growing in the Grace and Knowledge of My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Believers, ever notice listening to a sermon and feeling any or all of these?

  • feeling like a failure
  • feeling like you have not done enough
  • feeling like you have done more than others
  • feeling like you are better than others
  • feeling like you’ve accomplished a list that makes you holy
  • feeling like God’s disappointed with you
  • feeling shame, guilt, unclean, hopeless, worthless

Most likely you have just listened to a message that brought you back to the old covenant of the law… a message that exalts your doing or your lack of doing… a message exalting others’ doing or others’ lack of doing…

See, the old covenant is about…
man’s doing,
man’s obedience,
man’s effort,
man’s righteousness which he has none…

In the new covenant, it is about…
Jesus’ finished work,
Jesus’ obedience to The Father,
Jesus’s perfect and complete sacrifice,
God’s righteousness demonstrated when He punished all sins but on the body of our Lord Jesus…
God’s righteousness demonstrated when He exacted the penalty of death but from our Lord Jesus…

The gospel is all ABOUT Jesus being sent BY God FOR us so that THROUGH Jesus, the holy righteousness and justice of God can fully exact the penalty of death for all our sins, NOT on our bodies BUT on the body of our Lord Jesus and that THROUGH Jesus, we are saved, redeeemed, healed, restored, sanctified, made holy, justified, adopted to God’s family, etc…

We don’t deserve Jesus YET God gave up His Son for us.

It is this wonderful grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and what He had done that we are called to grow in…
When we do, it transforms us from the inside…just as Jesus said, in Matthew, about cleaning the cup and dish inside that the outside may be clean also.

Jesus is the gospel — the power of God to salvation.

It is in knowing more about Jesus that we experience transformation… restoration… wholeness… an overcoming life.

but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.
