Good News #72: As I Ask Boldly for God’s Help, Whatever I Ask in Jesus’ Name Shall Be Given!

Grace is the undeserved, unearned, unmerited favor of God towards us.

Simply put, Grace is receiving the good and wonderful things that we do not deserve to receive.

In the account in Mark 10, we find that James and John were asking Jesus to grant them to sit one on His right and the other on His left. This means both disciples wanted to be seated beside Him in His glory…above the rest of the disciples.

Did Jesus ask them what they did to deserve such honor? NO
Did Jesus ask them if they have served enough, prayed enough, tithed religiously? NO

Was Jesus offended with their boldness? NO.
Was Jesus displeased with such great a request? NO.

Jesus was neither offended nor was He displeased…
Guess who were greatly displeased? The other ten disciples [Mark 10:41]

And what did Jesus do?
Jesus taught ALL of them HOW to be great…

And isn’t it wonderful that the same Jesus who was neither offended nor displeased with James and John is the same Jesus who will never be offended nor displeased with our boldness in asking Him great things?

Hebrews 4:16 says…
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Why is this so? Why can we come boldly?
Because Jesus paid the price for us to be able to do so.

And guess what? Jesus actually had something even greater than what James and John asked for.

Ephesians 2:6 says…
and [God] raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places IN CHRIST JESUS,

This is the gospel — James and John AND ALL OF US (who believe in Jesus as Son of God who died for us) do not just sit beside Jesus… we are seated IN CHRIST JESUS.

Whatta God we have!!!
He truly exceeds even what we ask for!
Jesus is the gospel!

Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to Him, saying, “Teacher, we want You to do for us whatever we ask.” And He said to them, “What do you want Me to do for you?”
