Good News #55: God Sees the Good in Me, My Great Potential in His Kingdom!

And Jesus, when He came out, saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion for them, because they were like sheep not having a shepherd. So He began to teach them many things.

Mark 6:34

Regardless of who we were, who we are, what we have done, what we are doing… Jesus demonstrates to us how God sees us — that is, sheep without a shepherd… and His solution is Him teaching many things.

This is a quality that define the church of Christ from religion.

Religion sees people (who does not look like, sound like, laugh like, move like, dress like, serve in church like the leaders in that church) as disobedient disgraceful human beings who need to be set right… where sermons involved making people feel shameful, guilty, dirty, hopeless, insufficient in what they do… implying a comparison.

Religion will sound like the pharisees of the time of Jesus… people who impose standards on others, oftentimes, implying themselves as the standard.

Where Christ is… it will always have a central message birthed from compassion towards hopeless humanity… where Jesus is revealed as the source of all human needs…

JESUS being…

… the bread of life [John 6:35, 6:48]

… the living bread [John 6:51]

… light of the world [John 8:12, 9:5]

… the door of the sheep [John 10:7, 9]

… the good shepherd [John 10:11, 14]

… the resurrection and the life [Joh  11:25]

… the way, the truth and the life [John 14:6]

… the true vine [John 15:1, 5]

The gospel is this — God is a God of compassion.

Today, He is not out pointing you to your shortcomings… He is out pointing you to His Son Jesus who is your everything because He knows you need a Shepherd to lead you in this life.

Jesus is the Good Shepherd who teaches us many wonderful things so that we can have life and life more abundantly. [John 10:10]

Whatta compassionate God we have!!!

Jesus is the gospel! ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
