Good News #44: Jesus Came to Serve, Will You Allow Him to Serve You?

just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.

Matthew 20:28

The book of Revelation prophetically reveals the glories, majesties and excellencies of the glorified Christ Jesus through pictures, numerics and symbols.

In it, John records seeing Jesus in the midst of the seven lampstands, clothed with a garment down to the feet and GIRDED about the chest with a golden band. [Revelation 1:13]

Being girded is a picture of being ready to serve…just like how Jesus girded Himself with a towel during the last supper and washed the disciples’ feet with the towel with which He was girded. [John 13:4-5]

Jesus, even in His glorified Self in heaven, is still girded… always ready to serve and ever serving those who allow Him to.

When Jesus physically walked the earth, we see Jesus serving healing, serving freedom from oppression, serving liberty from years of demonic possesion, serving bread and fish, offering living waters…

Jesus never came to demand service. He came to serve grace and truth. Some were encouraged, empowered and emboldened to respond to Him in service… while others fell away when some of the truths He served seemed hard for them to understand…

Like after Jesus spoke about His flesh and blood… in John 6:66, it says…
From that time, many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more.

Jesus didn’t shame them. He didn’t demand for them to come back. He didn’t guilt-trip them. He didn’t accuse them and point fingers. Jesus simply continued to serve. He continued to extend grace to whoever was willing to receive from Him.

Hebrews 13:8 says…
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Even today, Jesus is still girded… still serving His church from heaven… even in His glorified Self.

He still wants to serve you expecting nothing in return but for you to receive from Him.

Whatta God we have in Jesus!
