Good News #24: To Partake of Jesus’ Body and Blood is to Remember His Worth and Worthiness as My Savior!

And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”

Luke 22:19

The gospel is Jesus.
The gospel is His sacrifice.
The gospel is God’s love sending His Son.
The gospel is God’s perfect goodness manifested in Jesus.
The gospel is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus that fulfilled all the requirements of the law… His finished work… that need only to be believed in and received to put into effect everything that He has paid for — salvation, forgiveness from God, reconciliation towards God, right standing with God, etc.

Gospel (euaggelion, in Greek) means good news… too good to be true news.

US… OUR sins… are not good news.
Even OUR believing and receiving Jesus is not the good news.
Even OUR transformation is not the good news.

The gospel has nothing to do with what we have done, what we do or what we will do.

As good and pious as it sounds, approaching communion recalling our sins is a desecration of the communion of and with Christ. Jesus Himself said “in remembrance of Me”. It means we are to remember Him… remember Jesus… who is the express image of God [Hebrews 1:3]… the image of the invisible God [Colossians 1:15].

The beauty of this gospel is that as we remember Jesus and behold Jesus, we are transformed into His image by the working of the Holy Spirit [2 Corinthians 3:18]

The gospel is confessing, beholding, recalling, remembering Jesus and His glory.
