Good News #5: As I Have Been Forgiven and Made Well By God’s Grace, I Am Empowered to Do Good and Sin No More!

Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.”

John 5:14

It is important to understand the sequence and order of what Jesus said to the paralytic in the pool of Bethesda because He is the same Jesus today and forever.

the BLESSING: “See, you have been made well.”
the INSTRUCTION on how to keep it: “Sin no more”
the CONSEQUENCE of not following the instruction: “lest a worse thing come upon you.”

Jesus does not take away anything that He has given to us. When He gives, He gives freely. It is up to us how to steward it.

When we don’t steward it well, we allow the enemy to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10).

There are consequences to our actions.

If we put our hand in the fire, it will burn. It isn’t that God is punishing us by letting our hand burn, no, we allowed it to happen.

In the same way, The Lord gives but it is up to us what we do with it.

Don’t let religion fool you into thinking God is a God who takes away when the bible is very clear who the thief is.
