Good News #356: As I Put My Trust in Jesus, He Works on My Behalf, Fighting Against My Enemies and Winning My Battles!

In the account recorded in 2 Chronicles, the enemies of the children of Israel underestimated the God of Israel.

The Ammonites, Moabites, and Edomites saw the children of Israel in their natural form — a people small in number compared to their three armies combined. They fail to see the God of Israel who is mighty to defend His people.

When king Jehoshaphat gathered the children of Israel together to inquire of the Lord and cry out for His help, The Lord sent His word that He would take on the battle on their behalf…

Sure enough, we read through the account of how the children of Israel never ever lifted a finger to fight the enemy… They only lifted their voices in worship to The Lord who went ahead of them and confused the armies that they attacked one another and finished each other off.

When the children of Israel got to the area where the enemies were, they only saw dead bodies. The Lord had already defeated their enemies, and the only thing left for them to do was strip the dead corpses of the precious pieces of jewelry and spoils… there was so much that the account tells us they spent three days gathering the spoils.

This same God who defended His people during the time of king Jehoshaphat under the old covenant is the same God who will do it for His own… those who are fully His under the new covenant.

The gospel is this — all of hell do not stand a chance against The Lord Almighty.
Our enemies (depression, oppression, sickness, poverty, etc.) may come against us one way, but they will flee before our face seven ways because when we cry out to The Lord, The Lord Jesus fights our battles.
Jesus is The Gospel.

And he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the Lord to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.
