Good News #353: With Jesus in Me, I Am Transformed From the Inside Out, Making Me a New Creation with a New Heart!

We all struggle with things about ourselves that we truly want to change. Yet, no matter how hard we try to change, we are not able to do so. Most of the time, the best we can do is suppress those things for a time, but given the right conditions, they burst forth like out of a broken dam… and when they do, we get into the cycle of shame and guilt.

The reality is that by our own effort, we cannot discipline ourselves fully into the kind of person we want to be.
Only The Lord God can transform us and make us better people. Only The Lord God can give us a new heart with new passions, desires, and priorities…

Now, if God can give Saul a new heart in the old covenant under the blood of animals, then He can do so and even more for you and me in the new covenant under the eternal blood of Jesus Christ, The Son of God.

Paul spoke about struggling to do what is good in Romans 7… but the gospel broke through in Romans 8… The answer to Paul’s struggle is Jesus Christ… Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Just as Jesus is the answer to Paul’s struggle, so is He to our own struggles.

Human beings need not get stuck in the struggle spoken of in Romans 7. We just need to turn ourselves into Jesus and let Him set us free so that we can move to the state that is spoken of in Romans 8 — the state of no condemnation… the state of freedom and liberty from the cycle of sin, shame and guilt… the state of transformation… the state of having a new heart.

The gospel is this — Jesus made a real and actual lasting transformation of the heart available to everyone… because His covenant is cut by His own blood… the pure eternal righteous blood of God Himself.
Jesus is the gospel.
