Good News #351: I Love Meditating About Jesus’ Gospel; His Truth Sets Me Free, Makes My Way Prosperous, and Gives Me Good Success!

When we read scripture, we often forget the period and reality of when the specific scripture was written.

To appreciate Joshua 1, let’s take note that when The Lord spoke to Joshua about meditating on the book of the Law, the only scriptures available to Joshua at that time were those written by Moses — Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy.

Joshua did not have Psalms, Proverbs, the Prophets, Gospels, Epistles, etc., unlike you and I today.

The Lord Himself told Joshua that the Book of the Law (the first five books of our bibles today) contains the bulk of commandments of the old covenant… will make him prosperous and have good success.

The Lord said this in the old covenant… and we read in Hebrews that our covenant is far better than the covenant that Joshua had…

The current covenant is based on the shedding of Jesus Christ’s eternal blood.
The covenant Joshua had is based on the blood of animals…. yet meditating on old covenant scriptures made him prosperous and successful… as recorded in the book of Joshua.

There is no telling how much much much more the scriptures of the new covenant will do for every born-again believer in Jesus who meditates on it day and night.

The gospel is this — The new covenant cut by the eternal blood of Jesus, The Son of God Himself… is far more superior to the old.
The new covenant has better promises than the old.
Do not be afraid of being prospered and made successful by the Lord Jesus Himself.
He delights in His children prospering and succeeding.

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
