Day 21: I Am Free and Forgiven, No Longer a Slave, and My Yokes are Broken – All Because of Jesus!

I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that you should not be their slaves; I have broken the bands of your yoke and made you walk upright.

Leviticus 26:13

Egypt also known as Mizraim means double distress. When the children of Israel was in Egypt, they were subjected to backbreaking labor and slavery. They were bent on hard labor.

But we know in the book of Exodus how God brought them out of the land of Egypt with signs and wonders. He broke Egypt’s yoke of oppression on the children of Israel and made them walk straight out of Egypt, loaded with silver and gold [Psalm 105:37].

When pharaoh and his army tried to pursue the children of Israel, God utterly destroyed them and kept the children of Israel safe.

The children of Israel is a picture of us, children of God, today. When Jesus died on that cross to redeem us meaning to set us free from sin and death, He literally broke off the grip of sin and death upon us and we have been set free to walk upright out of the slavery of sin and death, which includes stress, distress and poverty among other things.

This means because The Lord is your God, you need not live life under stress because He has broken its yoke upon you. You need not get stressed out about the future, knowing He is your God. What you only need to know is get to know what He has freed you from and what He has brought you into and receive it with joy and thanksgiving.
