Day 19: No Born Again Believer Can Commit the Unpardonable Sin

FALSE NOTION:

There are christians who still believe there are mortal sins and venial sins, where mortal sins are said to imperil the soul and venial sins are less serious breaches of God’s law.

They believe that mortal sins forfeit their entry to heaven thus they go to hell but the venial sins are something they can confess and ask for forgiveness.

SCRIPTURAL TRUTH:

Romans 3:23-24 says, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”

These verses DO NOT say that only those who committed mortal sins fall short of the glory of God. It says all have sinned, even those who have not stabbed someone to death and even those who have not slept with another who is not a husband or a wife.

Jesus had not qualified sins to be just the act itself but deep down in the heart of man.

The words of Jesus in Matthew 5:21-22

“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.’
But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire.”

The words of Jesus in Matthew 5:27-28

“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery’
But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”

Sin is falling short of the glory of God. There is no such thing as sin that is not falling short of the glory of God.

The good news is that redemption from hell is made available through Jesus Christ that if we confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in our heart that God has raised Him from the dead, we will be saved. [Romans 10:9]

Romans 10:9 doesn’t say we will be saved from so-called mortal sins only. It says that confessing Jesus and believing in His resurrection saves us, in other words, saves us from the penalty of death for all sins, meaning not going to hell.

All sins have been dealt with on the body of Jesus so that through Him, we receive redemption.

Isaiah 53:6 says:

All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

Isaiah 53:6 says the iniquity of us all (even those who have not bodily stabbed someone but have hatred in the heart and those who have not bodily slept with someone they are not married to but have lusted in their heart). All is all.

The only one thing that man has to do is believe in Jesus and this is something that God will never force anyone to do because He Himself had given man free will.

The unpardonable sin – the sin that leads to hell – is the rejection of Jesus.

When someone becomes born again, his old spirit died and a new spirit had been given to him, he cannot commit the unpardonable sin and he cannot undo what Jesus had done in his life which is make him a new creation forever grafted into the body of Christ and made a child of God eternally, permanently forever.

No such thing as mortal sin or venial sin. Sin is sin but thank God He sent Jesus to die for all of us and bore all our sins and by believing in His redemptive work (His death, burial and resurrection), we have permanently been saved from hell.

Father, thank You that You have made it possible for us to be saved from the eternal fire of hell through the redemptive work of Your Son Jesus Christ who died for us and redemeed us.

Jesus, we believe in You that You died, was buried and rose from the dead having declared us righteous. We confess You are Lord and Savior and in You alone do we get saved and redeemed.

Holy Spirit, continue to grow us and teach us the glory and excellence of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
