Day 12: Faith is Trusting God’s Heart Even Without Knowing His Timing

God’s heart is always for man’s good. In fact, God Himself reveals His heart and His plans to His people, except for details like specific timing and specific ways.

Such was the case with Noah. God revealed His plan of destroying all flesh and removing violence from the earth (because the fallen sons of God had defiled the human race by taking wives for themselves) and then God Himself told Noah how to save himself and his family from the flood that He was about to bring to the earth — by making an ark.

And God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth. Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch.”

GENESIS 6:13-14, NKJV

“And behold, I Myself am bringing floodwaters on the earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh in which is the breath of life; everything that is on the earth shall die. But I will establish My covenant with you; and you shall go into the ark — you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you.

GENESIS 6:17-18, NKJV

You see?

It wasn’t like Noah was building the ark without knowing what it was for and what was about to happen. Noah knew all along but what he didn’t know was when it would happen and how it would happen.

There is no such thing as blind faith. We have faith because we know that when God tells us to do something, what He has plannned for is for our good. Faith is faith and not understanding because we have faith in the heart of our Father despite not understanding whether things will unfold the way we expect it or not.

Oftentimes, God exceeds our expectations.

We do what God tells us to do, not because we have to and not because we necessarily understand the intricate details of His plan but because we know what He wants us to do is really for us and not for Him. That is faith.

Reflection Question:

Do you know that when God tells you to do something, it is not for Him? He needs your participation to bless you and to do for you what you cannot do on your own.

Radical Faith in Action:

Always remember though that God will never tell you to violate or go against the written word of God. He is never going to tell you to steal or cheat or lie or hurt anyone or do anything against moral uprightness.

If there is something you feel like God has been telling you to do, do it in faith knowing that the God who tells you to go forward will never let you do anything that won’t benefit you.

He is your Father and He will never play you out. He is out to bless you.
