Day 10: Draw From Jesus and Be Refreshed
There was a Samaritan woman who went to a well. Arriving at the well to draw water, she saw a Man – Jesus – sitting nearby, who asked her for a drink. The Samaritan woman was hesitant at first – because during those days Jews were not to associate with Samaritans. And Jesus replied:
The Samaritan woman wanted to have what Jesus was offering. She did not know, however, how to draw this “living water” – she thought it came from the same well they were at. Jesus explained to the woman what He meant:
Remember, Jesus is the source of the living water that quenches our thirst forever. We don’t have to find any other source or draw from one source to another. Jesus is the only One we need! We would not have to thirst again, because in Him – we are refreshed, our thirst quenched! In fact, it gives joy to God when we place a demand on Him. We are letting Him be God! When we are drawing from His fullness, we are delighting Him.
Friends, whatever needs we have and whenever the need arises, boldly come to Jesus. Draw from His inexhaustible supply and fullness of provision. Ask and petition your requests. And expect His answers – for He is faithful to complete whatever He’s started in you and through you. Amen!
Reflection Questions:
When a need arises, who do you usually turn to for help first? Do you see God as one of many sources of help for your need or do you come to Him first, to ask for His help in time of need?
Radical Faith in Action:
God wants us to depend on Him fully. Ask for His help first, draw from Him and depend on His provision. Whatever need that you involve God first – as your source of help – will be much easier to tackle. It doesn’t mean that He won’t use people to assist in resolving the need, but those people that will come our way to assist with the need are God-ordained and God-orchestrated, which makes the whole experience awesome – as we see the handiwork of God in the process.
