Day 3: All My Days, I’ve Been Held in the Lord’s Hands!

When the world halted to a standstill, no one really knew how long it was going to last. No one still does presently.

Pretty sure at some point and even now as these words are getting typed in, people are getting disheartened. The challenge of surviving had become very real; not only on not contracting the virus but keeping themselves fed and more so, keeping their hopes up.

In the natural, adversity such as this pandemic puts everyone on equal ground but as children of God, when we are grounded on His word and His promises, we are able to respond to adversity differently. We put a praise on our lips and switch our focus to Him instead of what we see with our natural eyes.

The most basic element of praise and worship is the focus on God’s goodness because it is when we focus on His goodness that we cause a shift inwardly from despair to hope, from questioning to eager expectation and from stress to restfulness.

It is the goodness of God that leads us to repentance (or in Greek, “metanoia” which means “a change of mind”).

ROMANS 2:4 NKJV

When despair starts to creep in, we encourage you to remember God’s goodness and while it may feel dark at this time, borrow the words of the man who knew that in both the ups and downs of life, he is held in the hands of the Almighty — the words of David — and speak them over yourself:

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.

PSALM 23:6 NKJV

And as you do so, we recommend the song Goodness of God by Bethel Music to help you get into a state of worship. You may refer to the lyrics of the song below.

I love You, Lord
For Your mercy never fails me
All my days, I’ve been held in Your hands
From the moment that I wake up
Until I lay my head
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God

Cause all my life You have been faithful
And all my life You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God

I love Your voice
You have led me through the fire
And in darkest night You are close like no other
I’ve known You as a Father
I’ve known You as a Friend
And I have lived in the goodness of God, yeah

And all my life You have been faithful, ohh
And all my life You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God, yeah

‘Cause Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me
Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me
With my life laid down, I’m surrendered now
I give You everything
‘Cause Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me, oh-ohh
‘Cause Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me
Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me
With my life laid down, I’m surrendered now
I give You everything
‘Cause Your goodness is running after, it keeps running after me

And all my life You have been faithful
And all my life You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
Oh, I’m gonna sing of the goodness of God
I’m gonna sing, I’m gonna sing
‘Cause all my life You have been faithful
And all my life You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
Oh, I’m gonna sing of the goodness of God
Oh, I’m gonna sing of the goodness of God
