Day 17: The Lord is My Refuge, No Harm Will Befall Me!

I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” …no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent.

Psalm 91:2,10 (NIV)

The enemy may have tools at his disposal, such as this pandemic, with an end goal of defeating and destroying us – God’s people. But take comfort in knowing that our God has the provision to combat whatever it is the devil throws at us. In fact, He has already defeated the foe through Jesus Christ, when He sacrificed Himself on the cross. Such provisions are documented in the Bible, and all we have to do as His beloved people is to receive. That’s what faith is all about!

One such powerful provision can be found in Psalm 91 – the great psalm of protection! I encourage you today to read the psalm in its entirety, meditate on it day and night, and be comforted with the truth of how much you are loved and protected by Your Heavenly Father.

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
    will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
    my God, in whom I trust.”

Surely he will save you
    from the fowler’s snare
    and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
    his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night,
    nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
    nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
    ten thousand at your right hand,
    but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes
    and see the punishment of the wicked.

If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
    and you make the Most High your dwelling,
no harm will overtake you,
    no disaster will come near your tent.
For he will command his angels concerning you
    to guard you in all your ways;
they will lift you up in their hands,
    so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
    you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
    I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
He will call on me, and I will answer him;
    I will be with him in trouble,
    I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him
    and show him my salvation.”

Prayer for Today:

Father, thank you for always loving me and always protecting me from all evil. I may be on this world, where a lot of bad things are happening, but I am not of this world – because I am yours. So I am not afraid; rather, I am declaring my dependence on you as my refuge and protection.

I thank you for giving me Jesus, the source of my authority against the devil and all its schemes. I ask the Holy Spirit to continue infusing fresh revelations in my life about Jesus and what He did for me, in me and with me. Holy Spirit, teach me and guide me daily on how to live life to the fullest, despite the circumstances and situations happening around me. All this I pray, in the Name of Jesus, Amen!
